A spectacular tektite, Libyan Desert Glass is nearly 98% silica! This location-specific tektite is the result of a meteorite impact in the Sahara Desert millions of years ago. As the sandy desert is largely silica (Quartz) the melt resulting from the impact is particularly glassy. The unique and undulating shape is the result of wind and sand erosion. 1.25" x .75" x 1", .3 oz.
