One of the rarest minerals from the region, Powellite is also one of the few minerals from the Deccan Traps that fluoresces! This large cluster of honey-colored, striated crystals of Powellite contains dozens of larger crystals, many color zoned and gemmy, The mineral was named after American geologist John Wesley Powell, a director of the US Geological Survey in the 1800's. It was first discovered in Idaho, USA and later in the Atacama area of Chile. The most impressive specimens hail from the Deccan Traps. Nashik, Maharashtra, India. 5.5" x 4" x 3", 1.7 lbs.
